I have to say that I was absolutely entranced watching Jennifer Hudson doing Carpool Karaoke with James Corden on The Late Late Show. She has such an incredible voice! And this clip makes her so real and seem so fun! My favorite part is the drive thru window.
I’ve never really watched James Corden, but this video idea seems to have come from a British program I’ve seen a couple times called Peter Kay’s Car Share, which has typical dry British humor. But I suspect he doesn’t get guests nearly as big as Jennifer Hudson.
I’m sure everyone knows who Jennifer Hudson is, but just in case I’ll do my usual recap of some of her extraordinary highlights from her relatively short career.
She rose to fame on the third season of American Idol in 2004, but finished in seventh place. Luckily, that was the just the beginning and not the end for her. Nevertheless, she was rated by MTV as being the sixth greatest Idol ever in 2009, while the Los Angeles Times rated her the third greatest in 2010, preceded only by winners Kelly Clarkson and Carrie Underwood.
She jumped into international stardom, however, by her acting performance in Dreamgirls. In that role, she won an Oscar, a Golden Globe, a BAFTA, and 26 other awards!
Jennifer Hudson is married to a professional WWE wrestler who also has a law degree from Harvard.
Although she’s had an incredible rise to stardom, Hudson is no stranger to extreme personal difficulties, though. Her name was suddenly in the news again in October 2008 when her mother, brother, and nephew were found murdered with multiple gunshot wounds. Her sister’s estranged husband was convicted of the murders. It’s no wonder that Hudson chose to star in the new Spike Lee film Chi-Raq, which was released last week.
