Honestly, this is sort of hard to admit. But it’s true. I really like Meghan Trainor’s videos. I mean, really like them. I’m not usually a fan of bubblegum types of music, but I think it’s because this doesn’t fit that mold.
‘Lips are Movin’ is so catchy and clever. Did you see the man standing on the fake steps that’s he’s painting? They aren’t really steps. He’s painting them to look real. But then he’s standing on one of them. I don’t know how to explain that. Tell you what, just watch the video. It’s at about 1:15.
While you’re at it, watch the whole thing. It’s fun. Even ‘Thriller’ makes an appearance.
The 5’2″, 21 year old Nantucketer was in a jazz band in high school (wasn’t that long ago for her, was it?) and I think it comes across a lot in her music. She also definitely comes across as a very self-confident individual.
Impressively, Meghan Trainor actually earned a deal writing songs for others with Big Yellow Dog Music before becoming famous herself as a singer. She likens herself to Sia in this regard, while other have compared her to Doris Day and Rosemary Clooney.
I’m excited to see where she goes in the future.
