Geronimo! Bombs Away! You Need To Watch These Two Videos By Sheppard

Trivia time! Why do people yell ‘Geronimo!’ when they are about to jump out of an airplane?

Well, the answer is actually disputed, but the two leading origin stories come from Fort Benning, Georgia with the 501st Parachute Infantry Regiment back when parachuting was just being introduced and tested by the U.S. Military. The two version differ on whether it came from a song popular at the time, or the group had just watched a movie about the famous Apache. In either case, one of the members decided to yell it as he jumped to prove his courage. Eventually, the exclamation was adopted by all members of the division, and later the entire military. During the War, it spread to popular culture.

Anyway, enough trivia for now.

These are quite entertaining videos! The song is worth listening to twice, as well. The first (the U.S. version) is an entertaining take on the Frankenstein motif, while the second (the international version) is just plain clever.

Sheppard has quickly become one of the biggest acts from Australia (maybe just after Sia), particularly with ‘Geronimo’ currently climbing the charts.
