Although this isn’t the official music video (but it is the official lyrics video), I really like what they are doing with the lyrics for this song. I don’t think I’ve seen a lyrics video that does them quite like this.
Becky Marie Gomez, aka Becky G, is definitely coming up fast in the American music scene and elsewhere. Only seventeen now, she definitely doesn’t come from a family of privilege, pursuing a musical career as a way to contribute to her family financially.
Becky G promoted herself via YouTube, writing her own lyrics for previously released rap and hip-hop songs, singing and rapping them over the original song. This seemingly simple receipt for success landed her a record deal with Sony.
She released her debut album in 2014 (I wanted to say “this year!”), which is where this song is found.
