Twenty three year old Demi Lovato has been everywhere the last few years. She crops up on reality TV, scripted television shows, movies, and fundraisers.
Because of her own experiences and person problems, she’s become exceptionally politically active and an outspoken advocate for many causes. She has single handedly got Disney to remove episodes of programs that joke about eating disorders (something she’s struggled with). She’s appeared on numerous programs to discuss bullying, which she dealt with as a kid to such an extent that she asked to be homeschooled. Demi Lovato has also dealt with substance abuse, which caused her to put her singing and acting careers on hold for a time. In spite of her personal difficulties, and perhaps because of them, she remains a devout Christian, even having band members pray with her before concerts.
Lovato made her acting debut in Barney and Friends alongside Selena Gomez. She was born in Albuquerque, New Mexico but raised in Dallas, Texas, where her mom was a Cowboy cheerleader.
This song, ‘Skyscraper’, was Lovato’s first platinum hit, coming from her third album, Unbroken. The album was her first release since her self-admittance into a rehab facility in 2011. ‘Skyscraper’ was praised for it’s message about self-worth and confidence and even won an MTV Music Award for that in 2012.
What’s particularly interesting to me about Demi Lovato is how different she looks from photo to photo. It leads me to believe that if I were to see her on the streets, I probably wouldn’t recognize her, as she looks completely different with or without makeup.
