Phillip Phillips (yes, that’s his actual name) has a knack for making music that have fun, driving beats. He’s one of the easiest artists to listen to these days, with it being difficult for anyone to really dislike his music. It’s quite a rare feat. Yet he’s still struggling to repeat his successes.
The young artist, born in 1990, came out of American Idol, which is something I didn’t know. His first single, ‘Home,’ was such a hit that I would have never guessed that he came through that pipeline. In fact, the song was so successful that it was the biggest “coronation” song by any American Idol victor.
The Georgia native with a degree in Industrial Systems Technology made a run for an appearance on America’s Got Talent‘s second season, but didn’t get very far. It turned at that this was probably for the best.
Phillips has had rocky relationship with his label, American Idol creator Simon Fuller’s company which has exclusive rights to Idol contestants music for a period after their appearances. He sued earlier this year because he claimed they were manipulative and oppressive.
Phillips was married just last Saturday (October 25) to his longtime girlfriend. He wrote and sung a song to his new wife for the occasion.

Can’t understand why his songs like Gone, Gone, Gone and Raging Fire haven’t become hits for him. To me all his songs are hits!
I believe Phillips is discovering himself through his music and his music will continue to evolve into something ever more awesome. He is still early in that process. Stay tuned
