The first time I heard Dark Horse, I wasn’t terribly impressed. But the more I’ve heard it, the more it’s grown on me. I admit, I actually really like the song now.
I’m clearly not alone. Katy Perry has proven to be an artist worth reckoning with.
Dark Horse‘s four weeks in the number one spot (along with ten other songs to reach that position) of the Billboard Pop Charts catapulted her over Mariah Carey as the artist having spent the most time in the number one slot (46 weeks). It should be noted however, that Mariah Carey’s career began before the Pop Charts was created in 1992.
Rounding out the top five all-time weeks on the Pop Charts are Mariah Carey (45), P!nk and Rihanna (32 each), and Ace of Base (29).
Not bad company for the 30 year old Perry, who will also be playing the Half-Time Show for the 2015 Superbowl.
