Kelly Clarkson has been around for quite some time now. In fact, she’s become such a staple of the American music scene, that’s it’s easy to forget that she was the original victor of the first season of American Idol.
Since that rise to stardom in 2002, she has charted ten top 10 hits, plus two country number 1 hits. Because of her great success, she has earned the name of ‘The Original American Idol.’
Although offered numerous scholarships to attend university, Clarkson declined them all in an attempt to pursue her music career. Likewise, she also turned down two record contracts prior to Idol, saying that they wanted to ‘pigeonholed me as a bubblegum act.’
The confidence in her abilities and her determination clearly paid off for the 32 year old mother of an eight month old daughter. ‘Heartbreak Song’ was released nearly a month ago, but the song seems to be just now gaining steam. I have no doubt that it will rise still higher because of it’s high energy sound.
