Sufjan Stevens Beautifully Renders ‘Come Thou Fount of Every Blessing’

Sufjan Stevens’ Christmas music is as good as any in the industry today, with his rendition of Come Thou Fount of Every Blessing among the best.

I absolutely love his music, but much (not all) of his extensive Christmas collection makes perfect, soothing background music during holiday gatherings. His voice is melodic and deeply emotional.

I’ve been watching as this Detroit native has moved along in his career, never reaching true stardom, or making number one hits, but slowly working his way into the American psyche almost as an underground, folk celebrity. I suspect that it’s difficult to reach true stardom with a banjo!

This hymn, Come Thou Fount of Every Blessing, was originally penned in 1757 by Robert Robinson.
