I love this song! It’s such a happy tune, and I think about it every time I do something new.
I’ve been listening to this song for years, both the original by The White Stripes and the cover by Jack Johnson, but I’ve never looked for videos. I’m so glad I did!
The version at the top is by Jack Johnson and was released for the Curious George movie soundtrack, which he recorded all the songs for. Below is the original recording by The White Stripes and released in 2002. Both of the videos are literal representations of the lyrics.
I put Jack Johnson’s version first because the girl who did it was so clever with how she drew it. She says it was her very first stop motion movie ever, which she did for a high school class.
The song is simplicity at it’s best. It truly evokes the simplicity of childhood, with life being about school and making friends. The song has been featured on various movies and TV shows, as well as fundraisers. The song was even used as a promo for PBS Kids.
Enjoy them both!
