5 Seconds of Summer, the teen heart throb boy band from Australia, must be laughing at their own cleverness with their newest video.
The song may not become their biggest hit to date. After all, it’d be hard to beat the 157 million views that ‘She Looks So Perfect’ has so far gathered on YouTube.
However, the band knows that they have a ready-made audience on their hands and could probably produce just about anything and make piles of cash from it.
‘Hey Everybody!’ is a rather strange video for a band that hit it big as very young guys still in their teenage years. The video opens with the guys trying to make money in various ways, but then making it big.
The irony is that they are already a very big band and they’ve probably never struggled for money in their lives, let alone had to worry about making rent like they sing about.
The band formed in 2011 and posted videos on YouTube into 2012 before being signed. Since then, however, they have essentially been on a tear, filling their market niche with great success.
