Charlie Puth’s debut single with Meghan Trainor, ‘Marvin Gaye,’ has gone platinum in many countries and broke the top 25 in the States. Although I actually really like the song, the music video is a bit risqué for the top of this blog, unfortunately. So I figured that I’d post it below for those interested but also looked to see what else he had. I found this song, ‘One Call Away.’ It’s not bad, I have to say.
I haven’t heard much of his music, obviously. Frankly, unless you’ve bought his debut album Nine Track Mind, no one has. But I have to say that I’m very impressed with the 23 year old. I would put him in the category as being an American Sam Smith. I think he’s that good.
Charlie Puth made a name for himself by doing YouTube videos. He then hit the international spotlight when he wrote and sung in the song by Wiz Khalifa, ‘See You Again.’
The New Jersey native has relocated to Los Angeles (where he’ll be performing next month), signed with Atlantic, and now has a certified hit on his hands.
As far as his unique eyebrow, it’s not a fashion statement. Puth says that he was attacked by a dog as a kid which caused serious scarring. In spite of that, he says he’s not afraid of dogs and has one himself.
I suspect we’ll be seeing a lot of Charlie Puth in the coming years.
