This is a wonderful version of this song! I mentioned that I recently jumped onto the Alex Boyé bandwagon and I think this is my favorite thus far.
As a Salt Lake City resident, Alex Boyé tapped Salt Lake Pops director Nathaniel Drew to do the orchestral arrangement. The results are surprisingly good. Amazing, I think.
Did you happen to notice the age of the members of the symphony? Needless to say, young. This is because this was filmed in a small music hall in a small northern Utah city. The building and the services provided there were in danger of disappearing with the times, but a 14-year-old girl, Maggie, asked Boyé to perform there to help keep it alive. He agreed, asking people to help in ‘bringing the academy back to life and turning it into a place where her newly formed “Silver Slipper Orchestra“, the first of its kind consisting of children as young as 5 yrs old (as seen in this video) can flourish and change the world!’
This is a very well-done video and song. It won’t quickly fall out of my head, for which I’m grateful. I’m including the original Adele version here in case you want to compare the two.
