Are you familiar with Shazam or SoundHound? They are apps for smart phones that will listen to a song for a few seconds and then tell you the name of the artist and the song. As far as I’m concerned, how it works is nothing short of magic. At any rate, I have had Shazam on my iPhone since I first got the original back in 2007. Once in a while, I’ll hear a song and “Shazam it” so as to remind myself to look it up later and perhaps buy it. This hasn’t exactly been very effective at introducing me to new music, however, because I never go back to listen to them again!
That is, until recently. I finally decided to go through my saved Shazam library and see if I liked anything. In doing so, I stumbled across Coco Love Alcorn. I apparently nabbed one of her songs back in January of 2014, although it wasn’t this one. The song I “Shazamed” was called ‘There Is A Light.” But that’s not important. What’s important is that I discovered Coco Love Alcorn!
I admit, I wasn’t expecting that soulful of a voice to come out of that mouth. I was expecting something along the lines of Sara Bareilles or something. It was a pleasant surprise.
Coco Love Alcorn hasn’t exactly made it to the big times yet, so it’s actually hard to find much on her. For the time being, just enjoy her music. I’ll be posting more of her stuff in the future, as I’ve become a fan quite quickly.
