Ed Sheeran as a kid. Adorable. I’ve already written about Ed Sheeran, on more than one or two occasions, so I won’t bore you with more of the same.
It’s funny, but the thing that comes directly to my mind when I watch this music video is, Ed Sheeran is clearly quite young. Why do I say that? Well, there is an abundance of videos of him as a kid. Video recordings have always been so expensive and difficult to preserve historically. Obviously, when I was a kid, there was no way that that many videos would have survived until today.
I knew that Ed Sheeran was young, but I was confirmed in my memory of it. He was born in 1991. Most of these videos would have been recorded in the mid to late 90s, which makes sense. At that point, the cost of camcorders had come down rather significantly. Likewise video cassettes to keep them on. His is perhaps the first generation of kids that will grow up with more than just photographs of themselves.
For some reason, this also caused me to notice other things about him. For example, Ed Sheeran is fairly short, at 5’8″. As we can see in the videos, he has an older brother, who is a classical music composer. Also, Ed was in a church choir at the age of four and learned to play the piano and guitar at a very young age. Neither of his parents made a living as musicians, though, which surprised me given that both of their kids make their living through it.
Ed Sheeran also, I learned, had a stutter as a kid, which is what led him to listening to and mimicking Eminem. It worked, actually.
