KT Tunstall hasn’t produced an album in a few years, but I find that I am regularly returning to an old favorite that an old friend once strummed on the guitar for me. The song always brings me back to that moment. Having never heard the song previously, I found it to be shockingly beautiful. I was stunned by its beauty.
Although I’ve lost track of that friend, I still consider her to be one of my dearest friends and one of the most important people in my life. I hope to reconnect with her some day, but until then I will always have this song, ‘Universe and U.’ For that reason, I will always hold tight to it.
I learned a lot about KT Tunstall that was interesting while reading about her, but obviously I need to keep it brief and will actually only talk about the one thing that I find most interesting.
She was born in Scotland and adopted by another family in her first month of life. That adopted family was decided not musical. In fact, they owned just one recording of any kind in the whole house, which was a comedy act. No music was in the house whatsoever.
I find this fact interesting because it clearly points to the fact that musical talent can indeed be inherited rather than taught. She asked for and received a piano at the age of four and picked up other instruments within a few years. She has doggedly and successful pursued a career that was very different than her academic family’s background. I just love that.
