Rachel Platten Has A Beautiful And Powerful Hit With ‘Fight Song’

I really like this song. In fact, it reminds me very much of Sara Bareille’s song ‘Brave’, which is a good thing in my book. It certainly has that self-empowerment anthem feel to it.

When I stumbled across this song, I thought that perhaps Rachel Platten had come out of nowhere. I had never heard of her. I’m curious if anyone else had before ‘Fight Song’ was released and quickly rose to the number six spot on the Billboard charts.

However, when looking her up, she’s not exactly a spring chicken. She been working hard at making singing a full-time career and has been plugging along for nearly fifteen years, when she was 22 in 2003. Her second album was released in 2011 and actually got some playtime on quiet a number of television programs, including Pretty Little Liars on ABC for their hundredth episode.

Platten co-wrote ‘Fight Song’ and originally performed it in June of last year. The song was good enough to land her a contract with Columbia and it’s proven to be a good choice. She’s actually touring right now with Christina Perri (who you all know I love!) and Colbie Caillat in their aptly-named Girls Night Out, Boys Can Come Too Tour.
