As we close out the year, it seems inevitable to think about the things that have come to pass in the previous year.
Bastille’s song Things We Lost in the Fire beckons us to remember those things, good and bad. Some of us have had a banner year of triumph, while some of us have lost much.
For those that have lost, this song is particularly poignant, reminding us to remember the changes that have occurred, even if they are hard to do so.
“Do you understand that we will never be the same again?”
For better or for worse, we may not know, but we have changed this last year. But “the future’s in our hands,” so let’s make the best of those changes and grow.
The song shares it’s title with one of my favorite movies. I wish the video was more reflective of the lyrics, though.
