I don’t even know what to say about this video. Yet still, I like it.
I would say that it’s about how all of us may have felt from time to time when dating or meeting new people. Apparently, we herp and derp our way through life. But I’m not exactly convinced that the song ‘Herp de Derp’ has that strong of a philosophical underpinning.
That being said, according to Urban Dictionary, herp de derp is “what one says when there is nothing else to say.” So I guess it’s a thing. And suddenly my lack of verbal expression makes sense.
I’m not even sure who to talk about with this song. It’s pretty vague on information. The girl in the song is Nashville native Noelle Bean (now based in Dallas), the guy is Stephon LaMar (who may or may not be a basketball player), and it seems to have been written by The Gregory Brothers (who are three brothers from Virginia and a wife of one of the three). Needless to say, it’s an odd group of people.
Nevertheless, I find the song quite catchy and the video to be particularly odd. Which, in my book, is a good thing.
